Flooding has killed at least 232 people and displaced more than 121,000 across Nigeria.
Data available as of September 20 according to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has revealed.
NEMA’s flood dashboard shows that over 339,000 people have suffered losses, with 681 injured and 115 reported missing nationwide. The hardest-hit states include Niger, where 163 deaths occurred, and Adamawa, with 59 fatalities. Deaths were also recorded in Taraba, Yobe, Borno, Gombe and Jigawa.
The disaster destroyed 42,301 houses and submerged 48,447 hectares of farmland, raising concerns about food supply. Lagos recorded the highest number of affected persons at nearly 58,000, while Adamawa and Akwa Ibom also reported severe damage to homes and farmland.
NEMA identified food, shelter, water, sanitation, and health services as urgent needs for survivors.
It also warned that resource shortages, poor access to flooded areas, and security risks were slowing response efforts.
