A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has affirmed a new set of national officers at a gathering in Abuja.
About 2,500 delegates endorsed Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary during the meeting held on Sunday.
The motion to adopt the 19-member National Working Committee (NWC) was moved by House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda and seconded by Usman Adamu.
Other key appointments include Aaron Chukwuemeka as Deputy National Chairman (South) and Yusufu Nya Akirikwen as Deputy National Chairman (North).
Kolawale Olabisi was named Deputy National Secretary, while Odeyemei Mackson Oladiran and Lado Dan Marke emerged as National Treasurer and Deputy National Treasurer respectively.
The list also includes several other party figures across different roles, signalling a full leadership structure for the faction.
The development highlights ongoing divisions within the PDP, as rival groups continue to contest control of the party’s national leadership. The Abuja endorsement is the latest move by the Wike-backed bloc to assert its position ahead of future political contests.
The main PDP leadership has yet to formally respond to the outcome of the meeting.
