A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has convicted and sentenced popular TikToker Muhammad Kabir, known online as @youngcee0066, for abusing and mutilating the Nigerian currency.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced the conviction on Thursday via its official X handle.

Kabir was arrested on May 13 in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna after he posted a video of himself spraying Naira notes, stepping on them, and taunting the EFCC in Hausa to come arrest him at his known location.

According to the EFCC, Kabir violated Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the national currency. He pleaded guilty before Justice Aikawa of the Federal High Court.

The court sentenced him to six months in prison with an option of a N300,000 fine payable to the Federal Government.
