The All Progressives Congress has elected a new set of national officers, returning Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman at its fourth elective convention in Abuja.
The convention, held late Friday at Eagle Square, also produced Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee.
Officials said the emergence of the executives followed a consensus arrangement agreed by party stakeholders, a move often used to avoid contested ballots.
Among those elected are Ali Bukar Dalori as Deputy National Chairman (North) and Benjamin Obi Nwoye as Deputy National Chairman (South). AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana was named Deputy National Secretary, while Murtala Aliyu Kankia emerged as National Legal Adviser.
Other key appointments include Uguru Mathew Ofoke as National Treasurer, Haruna Ginsau as National Financial Secretary, and Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu as National Organising Secretary.
The party also named Felix Morka as National Publicity Secretary, with Dayo Israel emerging as National Youth Leader. Mary A. Idele was elected National Women Leader.
The convention drew top figures from across the party, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
Delegates from across Nigeria attended the gathering, which is expected to shape the party’s direction as it prepares for future political contests.
