Bobrisky: Minister Orders Investigation into Alleged NCoS Officials Bribery

Date:

  • Minister Tunji-Ojo vows zero tolerance for corruption within correctional services
  • Investigation launched after viral audio implicates NCoS officials in bribery scheme

The saga surrounding Nigerian socialite Bobrisky has sparked controversy, with allegations of bribery and preferential treatment during their time in prison.

The incident, which involved claims made in a viral audio recording, centers on Bobrisky’s assertion that they paid officials from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to secure special privileges while serving a sentence for abusing the naira.

In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly revealed that they had paid bribes to avoid staying in the general prison population, instead being allowed to stay in a private apartment.

The claims prompted a significant response from Nigerian authorities. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, condemned the alleged actions, calling it a symptom of deeper institutional corruption.

He ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, with a special team led by the Ministry’s permanent secretary tasked with uncovering the truth.

In a statement, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that any form of corruption within the NCoS would not be tolerated, and those responsible would face severe consequences

While Bobrisky has denied the bribery allegations, calling the audio “fake,” the Ministry of Interior is taking the issue seriously, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s correctional institutions.

Meanwhile, Bobrisky has hinted at never coming back to Nigeria, as he left the country on November 11 after his faceoff with the EFCC and Immigration officers.

He shared photos on his IG page yesterday and someone asked him to return to Nigeria as he is being missed.
