An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has stopped any sale or transfer of properties linked to late former governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, pending the outcome of a legal dispute over his estate.
The order restrains his widow, Kemi Alao-Akala, and another executor, Olamide Alabi, from selling, disposing of, or entering into agreements involving the assets.
The ruling followed a suit filed by Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, who claims to be the late politician’s first daughter. She asked the court to intervene in the management of the estate, citing concerns over how the assets are being handled.
In its decision, the court granted an interlocutory injunction, blocking any transaction on the properties until the main case is resolved. It also directed that the matter be heard quickly to avoid delays.
The claimant told the court she has both legal and equitable interest in the estate. She alleged that some properties had already been sold without her knowledge or consent. She also claimed that steps were being taken to dispose of other assets or enter joint ventures involving them.

Her legal team argued that urgent action was needed to protect her rights and prevent further loss. They warned that continued transactions could cause damage that cannot be reversed.
The court agreed, noting the need to preserve the estate until all claims are fully examined.
The case centres on the administration and ownership of properties left behind by the former governor, who served Oyo State from 2007 to 2011.
During the proceedings, another application was filed seeking DNA tests among individuals involved in the dispute. Lawyers presented arguments on the request, and the court has fixed April 16, 2026, for a ruling on the matter.
The dispute has drawn attention due to the prominence of the late governor, whose political influence remained strong in Oyo State until his death.
