    • Sanwo-Olu’s Ally Accused of Secretly Funding Opposition Leaders in 2023 Elections

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

Achimugu, a known associate of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is accused of covertly channeling funds to opposition figures Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 elections.

According to reports, President Bola Tinubu was reportedly enraged upon learning that funds linked to Achimugu had connections to Sanwo-Olu. The revelation was said to have sparked concerns within the presidency, with speculation that it could have serious political ramifications for the Lagos governor.

Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, dismissed the allegations as baseless, describing them as a politically motivated smear campaign aimed at discrediting opposition figures and advancing Tinubu’s political agenda.

Despite the denials, the EFCC issued an official notice on Friday, declaring Achimugu wanted. The statement, signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, urged the public to provide any information on her whereabouts.

“Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, 51, an indigene of Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi State, is wanted in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. Her last known address is 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja,” the EFCC stated.

The anti-graft agency has called on anyone with useful information to report to its offices nationwide or contact law enforcement agencies.
