Tragedy struck in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State when a wedding celebration turned into a nightmare due to suspected food poisoning. A wedding guest has reportedly died, and the groom is in critical condition, following allegations that the bride tainted the food served at the event.
The Jigawa Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched a thorough investigation. State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, disclosed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
“We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception, leaving the groom critically ill,” Adam stated. “The command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we will provide more details as soon as possible. We urge the public to remain calm and assured that justice will be served.”
Wedding Festivities Turn Fatal
Witnesses at the event reported that the wedding reception began joyously, with friends and family gathered to celebrate the union. However, the atmosphere quickly shifted when several guests began complaining of stomach discomfort shortly after consuming the food.
