N-Power has reacted to the non-payment of stipends to 2016 batch of the scheme, apologizing for making the beneficiaries not to meet their monthly obligations.
In a message released yesterday, the Federal Government youth empowerment scheme said said it is working “working assiduously to fix this” but did not mention the cause of the delay.
The message reads in part: “We realize that you have been constrained in meeting your monthly obligations and we are sorry.
“Your stipend is your right for work done, and we wish to reassure you that we do not take you for granted.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
About 200,000 youths have been empowered in the ongoing N-Power scheme in various fields and are entitled to N30,000 monthly stipends.
Making review of the programme, the Federal Government boasted of spending over N100 billion from 2015 till date in the Social Investment Programme which include feeding school children, government enterprise empowerment, youths empowerment amongst others.
It also said more graduates would be employed in in 2018 to round up the those hired in the N-Power scheme to 500,000.
