The Nigerian Army said on Friday that residents of Maiduguri are to disregard rumours of Boko Haram pretense, and that there is no need to panic.

It further said that “security situation in Maiduguri is under control” and residents are to remain at home and be vigilant.

The short statement was released by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Kingsley Samuel in response to panic that have overtaken the region following attempted invasion by the terrorists, but which according to army have been repelled.

The army also assured in the previous statement that patrols have been stationed in the region.
