Addressing journalists on Sunday in Ilorin, the National President, Alhaji Abdullahi Salaudeen, said Aduanigba’s claim is not only falsehood, but also misleading and condemnable, noting that there are only 3 Imams in Ilorin, namely: Imams Fulani, Imale and Gambari.
Briefing on the antecedent of Islam in Ilorin, Alhaji Salaudeen further noted the “That the advent of Sheikh Soliu Alimi witnessed the introduction and propagation of Islam among the Ilorin indigenes composed of ; Yorubas, Nupes, Kannikes, Barubas, Gobiris and Fulanis and they all embraced the religion.
“That the current Ilorin Emirate is composed of Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South , Asa and Moro local government areas and Islam remains the unifying factor and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibarhim Sulu-Gambari CFR is the paramount ruler of the community. Therefore any attempt by anybody or group to in sell the idea of an “Oba” in place of the Emir is not only laughable but also unwarranted.
“That it is saddened that after nine years in Saudi Arabia, Aduanigba’s utterances are obvious signs that he is not well grounded in Arabic Language. His Arabic utterances in the video contain some unpardonable grammatical irregularities.
“That findings have revealed that with the efforts of the one ranking traditional chief in Ilorin Emirate, the culprit was in the past arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate sitting in Ilorin and he was released on bail as the case is yet to be concluded.
“That the culprits attempt to condemn some Islamic names as he claimed in the video and other social media is ungodly and a true reflection of his ill-health and act of waging war against Islamic jurisprudence/doctrine.
“That in Ilorin Emirate, there are three Imams namely; Imam Fulani, Imam Imale and Imam Gambari and the Emir of Ilorin has the reserved power to appoint and turban anybody as Imam anytime there is need for.
“That raining of abusive words/utterances on Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR and other Ilorin Emirate Stakeholders and Kwara at large is inciting, undeserving, libelious and criminally inclined despite government’s campaigns against hate speeches .
“We therefore urge the Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Saleh Pai, to urgently order the arrest of Abdulraheem Aduanigba and prosecute him in continuation of his earlier case before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
“However, we advise the culprit and his co-travellers/sponsors to desist from such dastard illicit acts or be ready to face the unforseen consequential repercussion because the Ilorin Emirate Youths will not relent in out efforts towards preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara at large.
Mr. Aduanigba had released video, calling for the dethronement of the Emir of Ilorin, claiming that Ilorin belong to Yoruba. He had also insulted the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and other eminent Ilorin people for bearing Islamic names instead of Yoruba names.
