Kidnappers arrested in Kwara after collecting N500,000 ransom

Kwara State Police command on Friday paraded six suspects in connection to the kidnap of one Usman Mohammed in Osi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to the victim’s brother, Sani Mai Kifi, he was missing on October 6, 2017 and he reported at Ekiti Divison about the case on the October 7.

According to police report, the Mohammed was kidnapped by gunmen, whom the family paid a ransom of N500,000 for the release of the victim.

Police statement released by the Commissioner of Police, Lawal Audu, said, “Immediately the information was received, detectives attached to Ekiti Division swung into action and concerned efforts of the police and members of he VIgilante Group led to the arrest of six suspects.

“During police interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and total sum of N361,150 being part of ransom collected for the realised of the victim was recovered.

The statement also noted that two single barrel guns, seven cell phones (including that of the victim and charms were recovered from the suspects.

The victim has also reunited to his family heal and hearty.
