The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Success, for allegedly killing his father with a cutlass in the Amukpe community of Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred at the family’s residence a few days ago when Success demanded N5,000 from his father, who declined to give him the money. The refusal reportedly enraged the young man, leading to a heated argument between father and son.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that Success, known locally for his history of substance abuse and erratic behavior, lost control during the confrontation. A neighbor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described him as “a drug addict who often misbehaved under the influence.”

On the fateful evening, the altercation escalated, and in a fit of rage, Success picked up a cutlass and attacked his father. The elderly man, severely injured and bleeding, was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his wounds.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, stated on Thursday that Success has been taken into custody and is being investigated for the gruesome act. Police assured the public that justice would be served.
