President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathised with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, over the resignation of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, over the weekend.

“Accept my sympathy for losing a senior member of your party,” Buhari jokingly said yesterday during the inauguration of 30-member panel on National Minimum Wage.

Although Buhari did not mention names, but he was apparently referring to the former Vice President, as no other senior member had announced his resignation from the ruling party in recent times other than him.

Mr. Atiku, a two term Vice President during President Olusegun Obasanjo regime, had last week announced his decision to walk away from the party.

Despite rumour of him settling down with the major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, the former VC has not revealed his next step of political direction.
