Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President has said President Muhammadu Buhari chose not speak on seeking a second term because he is focused to deliver his campaign promises.
Osinbajo was quoted by Reuters in an interview with CNBC on Thursday, as saying Buhari would not afford any distractions with carrying out his duties, 2019 re-election inclusive.
“The president is focused on this term. He wants to ensure that he delivers on the promises that were made. He is not talking about 2019”.
The statement came to clarify statement from the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who had criticised Buhari for incompetence and urged him to return home, without thinking of re-election.
The statement had heated the polity of the country as there were reactions from different quarters, even a leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress slammed the former president that the party had offered the best which no other party can offer.
