Following the victory of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State at the Federal High Court in Ekiti as Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was stopped from investigating the state finances, the anti-graft agency said the ruling was an error and cannot stand the test of time.
EFCC therefore vow that it would seek a appeal to prove that its jurisdiction cover all segment of the country to investigate all finances.
According to the Head of Media and Publicity of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, who responded to the matter after the ruling in the court, said “The commission has applied for a certified true copy of the ruling of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti.”
EFCC’s spokesperson added that the situation would be studied and get prepared for an appeal, expressing confident of getting judgement.
The ruling of the High Court, Ado Ekiti Division was that EFCC could not investigate finances without a report of misappropriation from the House of Assembly.
