President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday was in a meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, with the sole purpose of getting their vote of confidence for the former Edo State governor, Adam Oshiomhole, to emerge the party’s national chairman.
At the meeting which held at a close door at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Buhari urged the governors to support.
According to a Presidential source who pleaded anonymity, “The President called this meeting with the APC governors to ask them to back Oshiomhole’s candidature. That’s the purpose of the meeting administration that is the President’s position.”
This came even as the party’s new National Working Committee will emerge after the convention coming up in May 14 in Abuja.
However, it still remain sketchy if the current APC chairman, Chief Johnn Odigie-Oyegun, will be recontesting for the number one position in the party, but the Presidency loyalty is towards Oshiomhole.
Following the party’s decision to retain the zoning formular, Oshiomhole seems to be qualified for the candidacy as he hails from South-south where the position of the national chairman is zoned to. Odigie-Oyegun is from the same geo-political zone.
