A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayekooto Akindele, has urged Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to fully implement the recent Supreme Court judgment as a way to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the state.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Akindele advised Fubara to dismiss his commissioners and suspend preparations for the local government elections until his dispute with the state House of Assembly is settled.
“Fubara no dey hear word. This Rivers matter is very simple. Obey the Supreme Court judgment fully. That is, sack those illegal commissioners, cancel LG election preparation until you and the House of Assembly settle your differences like men. Then agree on a date to represent your budget. THAT’S ALL,” he wrote.
The crisis in Rivers State has escalated, with lawmakers allegedly plotting to impeach Fubara. While the governor has accused the Assembly of frustrating his efforts to implement the court ruling, the legislators have denied the claims.
