President Bola Tinubu has submitted another set of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, adding new names to the list of envoys expected to fill key diplomatic roles.
The nominees include the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; former presidential aide, Ita Enang; former Imo State First Lady, Chioma Ohakim; and former Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
Their nominations were announced during Thursday’s plenary after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the president’s letter on the floor. Tinubu asked the Senate to consider the nominees promptly to avoid gaps in Nigeria’s foreign missions.
Akpabio directed the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to begin screening immediately and submit its report within one week.
