President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled condolence visit to Benue State was stalled on Wednesday, 18 May, after flooding rendered parts of the Lafia-Makurdi highway impassable.

Television footage aired by TVC showed members of the presidential security convoy stranded at the flooded section of the road linking Nasarawa and Benue States.

The clip showed how several vehicles were brought to a halt, with security operatives seen wading through rising waters and assessing the extent of the blockage.

The president was en route to Benue to sympathise with families affected by recent violent attacks and to hold meetings with traditional and community leaders. His visit is still expected to proceed once conditions on the highway permit safe passage.
