The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a devastating road accident that occurred on Wednesday evening before Nyanya Bridge, resulting in the destruction of 14 vehicles and the loss of at least six lives.

According to a statement by FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the fatal crash was caused by a Dangote trailer loaded with cement, which lost control and rammed into stationary vehicles caught in traffic.

    Eyewitnesses: ‘More Than 10 Dead’

Although eyewitnesses claim that more than 10 people lost their lives, the police confirmed that six victims were pulled from the wreckage but later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

“The impact engulfed 14 vehicles in a raging inferno, causing panic and chaos as bystanders and motorists scrambled for safety,” the police spokesperson stated.

    Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts

Firefighters, security agencies, and brave volunteers fought through thick smoke and intense heat to rescue trapped victims.

“Police operatives, in collaboration with fire service personnel and other security agencies, contained the inferno, and normal traffic flow has been restored,” the statement added.
