1.Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has said he would soon make a final decision on his future in the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to the governor, the suspense would soon be over as he would make his intention known in no distant time.
2.Nigeria Police has said arrangements have been concluded to declare Senator Dino Melaye wanted over claim of assassination attempt on his life.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ali Janga, said the lawmaker had been invited for questioning and that the police would be forced to declare him wanted, should he refuse to honour their invitation.
3.The Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has won the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for the gubernatorial poll slated for September 22. He beat his closest rival, Lassun Yussuf, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who got 21, 975, followed by the incumbent Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salam with a total vote of 19,958.
4.Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson has declared that killings in Nigeria were premeditated. The governor said that what was going on in Nigeria was more than the historical herdsmen and farmers’ clashes, pointing out that the country has lost many innocent souls to the killings.
5.President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said the reason he decided to announce his desire to seek re-election early enough in April is to “cool tempers.”
Buhari said, he had to announce before the National Executive Committee about his intention to ask for the party’s nomination for next year’s election so that they can save a lot of time and ‘cool tempers.’
6.The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has claimed that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo is using other means to get the third term he failed to realize during his tenure. Oshiomhole stated that Nigerians have decided not to return to the era where the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) security money was shared to people based on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s philosophy of “share the money.”
7.The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has warned that anyone caught abusing the Naira would be severely punished. The apex bank decried the growing abuse of the currency by squeezing, selling, spraying at parties and trampling on while dancing at parties.
8.Three persons were on Friday killed and many others sustained injuries after a train hit a commercial bus at Pen Cinema railway crossing in Lagos State.
Report said the accident occurred when the bus driver was trying to make a U-turn on the rail line.
9.The Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has said that over 34,000 Cameroonians are currently taking refuge in six local government areas of the state. The Director-General of SEMA in the state, Mr John Inaku, stated that the influx was as the result of the crisis in Cameroon over the demand for Ambazonia Republic by Southern Cameroonians.
10.President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the vote of no confidence passed on his administration by the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, and other socio-political organizations in the country. Buhari through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba, described the leaders as selfish.
