In a move that’s likely to stir fresh political conversation back home, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, hosted members of the suspended Rivers State House of Assembly to a dinner in the United Kingdom.
The gathering, which took place on Monday, April 7, was held during the lawmakers’ visit to London for a Legislative Capacity Building course.
Lere Olayinka, spokesperson for the FCT minister, shared a video from the event on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), revealing that Wike had travelled from Port Harcourt to London late Sunday to meet with the legislators.
“Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner,” Olayinka posted.
Wike’s presence at the dinner adds a fresh layer to the ongoing political drama in Rivers State, where the lawmakers remain suspended amid a lingering power tussle.
The event, while positioned as part of a training program, is already drawing attention from political watchers who view it as a calculated move by the minister to reaffirm his influence over the embattled legislators.
