Wizkid Tops Africa’s Most Talked-About People of 2024 List

Date:

  • Nigerians Claim 18 of 30 Spots in Top Charts Africa Ranking
  • Kenya’s Ruto and Afrobeats Icon Davido Follow Closely Behind

Nigerians have claimed 18 spots on Top Charts Africa’s “Most Talked-About People of 2024,” including the number one position.

Leading the list is Nigerian superstar Wizkid, who has remained in the spotlight all year. His renewed feud with fellow singer Davido and the release of his album Morayo kept him trending throughout 2024.

Kenya’s President William Ruto secured second place after making headlines in June. Mass protests erupted in Kenya over proposed tax hikes, culminating in the storming of Parliament. In response, Ruto rejected the contentious bill and signed the “Appropriations Bill 2024” to address the financial crisis.

Afrobeats star Davido rounds out the top three. His year-long prominence peaked with his highly publicized wedding to Chioma, dubbed “Chivido 2024.”

Other Nigerians in the top 10 include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, billionaire Aliko Dangote, and crossdresser Bobrisky. They join notable figures like Kenyan politician Raila Odinga, South African singer Tyla, and Nigerian politician Peter Obi.

Controversial Equatoguinean official Baltasar Engonga also made the list after going viral for leaked private videos.
